Adwords, Online Ads etc.
There are many ways to pay for advertising online. Perhaps the most well known way is to purchase adwords from Google or other search engines. The basic principle is that the Search Engines will let you pay your way to the top spot on their search engine for certain keywords associated with your article or website. You “bid” on keywords, so some keywords can be expensive, and it can be very hard to compete with the large corporations who doesnt care how much they spend a day. That said, Google does make the keywords cheaper if they judge that the keywords are valid to the topic. It is also possible to bid on keywords with less traffic and expense, and target slightly altered keywords that cover those words. That is where we have to start to consider if it is worth it to pander to certain well established misspellings. Adwords is a fairly expensive way to advertise, but if you have a really great article it might be worth it.You can choose to pay for each click, or for each time the ad is shown, and it can be hard to figure out what is the most cost effective. Sometimes other search engines than Google are better priced.
Another place to pay for advertising is Facebook, and that is actually cheaper, and often more targeted.
Of course, then there are banner ads, pop-up ads etc. Don’t waste your time or money on those. They rarely bring much for the investment.
Generally speaking, Internet Surfers come online because they want information. They do not care who you are, or what you sell. They want information. If you give them just “enough” relevant and solid information they will want to find out who you are, and what you can do!
